Hello blog readers!
If I still have blog readers after minimal posts for the last few months, I appreciate it. Recently I’ve undergone what I’d best describe as a hypomanic, productivity-fueled craze of business scheming and action-taking. More specifically, after discovering that I could earn decent money building and editing websites given the skills I’ve taught myself over the last year, I started actively seeking out clients, and have completed several big sites and a lot of smaller projects.
More recently, though, I’ve felt I had bitten off more than I could chew with the number of projects I took on, and was mostly relieved when the remaining big project on my plate fell through. I have nothing in the pipeline as of now and am looking forward to taking a break from making websites for the time being.
I have earned enough over the last few months to pay off my car two years early, save some money and buy myself some new clothes and a sweet new desk setup. After hunching over my laptop on my couch for the last year I decided it was time to buy a real desk. While I was at it I also got an Apple wireless keyboard and trackpad and hooked up one of my boyfriend’s old flat screen monitors, so now I can work off two monitors at once. Amazeballs!
Anyway. Outside my business ventures life is going well too. I had a week and a half off around Thanksgiving and had a great time visiting family in the Bay Area. I’m almost halfway done with my 2nd year of residency. Overall this year is about 100x better than intern year, but I’m still looking forward to being done with inpatient psychiatry and never having to take an overnight call again. Apart from the 3 1/2 weeks of nightfloat I have in February I have 17 overnight calls for the rest of the year, which actually sounds like a tangible, finite number I can accomplish.
One of my goals for the next few months is to get back into a regular posting schedule with this blog. I also have been slacking with my relationship guide — I’ve written over 7000 words so far but got sidetracking with all the website projects. It’s definitely on my list to finish that up.
I’ve also been thinking about moving in a different direction with the stuff I write on this blog. I think part of the reason I write so infrequently is that I feel I can’t write unless I have something really good to say. While I think I should do my best to write content that is most helpful for you guys, I also think you might appreciate hearing about the path I’m on, since I’m trying to figure it out just like everyone else.
So there’s the update. Thanks for sticking with me during the lull and I’ll be back with more content soon.
